Group 2a
(Pinscher-Schnauzer) was won by
Miniature Pinscher bitch Ch. Zehavit Beit Hamaayan, bred and owned
by David Efrat. 83 year old David Efrat is a world-renowned figure
in his breed and has bred a large number of champions over the past
40 years. "Zehavit is already an international champion,"
notes David Efrat, "but I brought her to the show because
lately entries in the breed have been diminishing and I wanted."
Zehavit is several generations Beit
Hamaayan,
whelped at the home of Kuti Aharon. "When Kuti brought her as a
puppy, 7 years ago, he told me she would be a champion,"
recalls David. "She has won every show I entered her to and
some of her offspring are champions too. I kept one of her
daughters,
a wonderful bitch. Two of her sons are in Cyprus, doing very well."
"I will continue breeding as long as
possible," says David. "My economic situation is not too
good. I take care of my dogs on my own, without any help, even
though my health is not up to par, my dogs give me a purpose in life."
