Where
are we from?
Hello!
My name is Natali Zorina.
I'm kennel owner and live in the "North capital" of Russia - Saint-Petesburg
- big megalopolis and very beautiful city on the Neva river and
the gulf of the Baltic Sea. It's place - near the Scandinavia.
But before, I lived far from here - on extreme North of Russia
in Siberia, where were born my first puppies in kennel.
To
Crop, or Not to Crop??
Some people
think that Pinscher already born with short tail and small
standing ears. But it's not so...
Ear cropping, tail docking and dewclaw removal originated as means to prevent injuries. Hundreds of years ago, dog owners removed those parts of puppies' ears and tails that were likely to be snagged or torn while hunting and working. Dewclaws (rudimentary 5th toes on the inside of dog's ankles) were removed for the same reason.
Dog fanciers that support ear cropping defend it as being beneficial for the dog's ear health. They believe cropped ears have fewer incidences of ear infections because of increased light and air circulation.
Some breeds of dogs through the ages have traditionally been recognized partly by the distinctive look of their head; cropped ears have been a trademark for these breeds. Doberman
and Miniature Pinschers come to mind right.
Today, the practice of altering tails and ears is primarily a matter of continuing a tradition rather than fulfilling a need. Considered cosmetic
surgery, these operations are elective and should only be performed after careful consideration. It IS a cosmetic surgery, but, this is done by a veterinarian, while the puppy is
asleep.
Today there is no reason, other than personal choice, to crop ears. Of course, if you plan to show your dog in conformation classes, there are some breeds that are preferred to have cropped ears.
There are so many choices and decisions to be made now that you have bought or raised that purebred pup.
And one to those really difficult decisions for many purebred dog owner is the one relating to ear cropping.
This IS a cosmetic surgery, and is not necessary to do if you simply have a
Pinscher as a pet. It is personal preference. If cropping is done by a knowledgeable vet, the healing process is usually swift. The whole procedure is usually less stressful when you have your vet, or your breeder to help you with the entire process.
Our
kennel completely support cropping and help to our buyers.
About
health testing
A lot of breeders ask
me: what with tests? Unfortunately in Russia do not make testing. But some our
puppies and dogs exported to other countries, were subject to test and have confirmed health
of eyes and knees:
